You mean it’s NOT just about the turkey?!?

Can you believe Thanksgiving is in just 56 days?  It seems like we’re just getting ourselves back into the swing of things from summer break, and already we’ve got to think about the tons of family and friends that are coming over this year for turkey and cranberry sauce.

But believe it or not, it’s not just all about the turkey anymore.  Among all the savory dishes we look forward to every year (my mouth is watering just thinking about my sister’s cornbread dressing and baked macaroni & cheese), let it be said that after all the gravy-sopping and turkey carving, you’ll get that inevitable question of, “What’s for dessert?” 

This year, think a little out of the box when preparing your dessert table.  How about a spice-filled sweet potato pie – loaded with roasted sweet potatoes, cloves, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a hint of orange?  Or how about putting a twist on the tradition pecan pie with a platter of bourbon pecan bars?

Whatever you do, I hope you make it special.  Cheers - here’s to the beginning of a holiday season filled with sweet, sweet memories.

NOW AVAILABLE! ‘Delicious Desserts to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth’ by Konya Lindsey

I am so excited to announce the launch of my new cookbook, Delicious Desserts to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

This book has been a year-long labor of love, consisting of a collection of dessert recipes aimed to take the fear and trepidaton out of baking.  Throughout the years, I’ve heard from so many people that they are “scared to bake”, or “it’s too hard”, or “it’s too complicated”.  I made painstakingly sure that this book really breaks everything down to the simplest level, that the recipe directions are very clear and concise, that there are useful tips and techniques that every novice and expert can use in the kitchen, and there there are photos and process shots for EVERY recipe so you know what it’s supposed to look like each step of the way.

Hello and Welcome to the SugarPlum Experience!

Hello all!

Welcome to my blog site!  I have to admit I’m a bit of a newbie at this, but here goes.  I hope you all will enjoy the site and its contents.

Who is SugarPlum, you ask?

Well, my name is Konya, and I’m the owner of SugarPlum Confections.  I left my cushy job at Verizon last September (2007) to take some time pursuing what I love….FOOD.  My business offers dessert catering services – I make everything from cookies to cakes and everything in between – for all types of events and occasions.

My blog will consist of all types of information on all that is sweet.  Hopefully you’ll find it entertaining and helpful.
